Fast Follow: Dmytro Virych Clones a $199 Mac App in 6 Days and Launches for $5
Serial Mac app builder Dmytro saw the launch of Beam, a $199 utility for seamlessly sharing individual windows between Macs, and decided the price tag was too steep for the average user. In exactly six days, he went from an empty repo to shipping a fully notarized alternative called Wormhole. The end-to-end encrypted app allows users to pull a specific window from a secondary Mac directly onto their local desktop as a native-feeling window. Rather than charging a premium, Dmytro launched it at just $5, utilizing a dynamic pricing model that increases the cost by $10 for every 20 licenses sold.
